Beyond Memory
What remains of culture when memory moves beyond history?
Beyond Memory brings together Faig Ahmed and Farid Rasulov to explore how cultural memory survives through objects, spaces, materials and visual systems. Their practices reveal tradition not as something fixed in the past, but as a living process that continues to evolve.
Faig Ahmed transforms the traditional carpet, disrupting its familiar patterns through distortion, fragmentation and digital intervention. Ornament becomes a flexible visual language—one capable of changing while retaining its cultural foundation.
Farid Rasulov turns to the environments of everyday life: domestic interiors, architectural elements and familiar objects. Rather than looking back nostalgically, he examines how memory becomes embedded in the spaces we inhabit and the objects that surround us.
Together, the artists create a dialogue between visual language and lived environment, showing how culture is both constructed and transmitted.
Presented within Fly to Baku. Art Weekend. Sense the Future NOW. Big Five, the exhibition considers the future not as a departure from tradition, but as its continuous reinterpretation.
